bobimt's Journal As I look at my three children I can only say how wonderfully blessed I am that God allowed me to be their mom! I am so thankful every day for the privilage of getting to stay home with them. It was a different sort of a Mother's Day for me this year. I was working up in Helena yesterday, so today Rob, Kobie and I were traveling back home. I have been a little remiss on getting on here to blog about Kobie turning 6 months old on the 4th. I feel like I have just been surviving the last month and a half of having sick kids and not much else seems to get done. We got the unfortunate news on Wednesday that Kobie did test positive for Whooping Cough. Not what we were wanting to hear. I am sure that means the last month and a half we have been dealing with the other two having it too. It has been a lot of sleepless nights the last couple of weeks with Kobie as he sleeps best on my chest because he wakes up coughing and he wants to nurse more often because of coughing too. He has been doing pretty good with it though. We have him on high doses of Vitamin C to help lessen some of the symptoms. It has been fun trying to get that in him, he blows raspberries at me every time he sees the dropper coming at him! The other two kids seem to still be doing pretty good with just the occasional coughing. We are actually all on high doeses of Vitamin C to help us stay ahead of this. The end seems like it is still far away, but I know it will come. Just praying for the energy to get through this! So some of the things Kobie is doing now that he is 6 months are sitting up with the boppy for support and babbling things like "Dadadada". Rob is convinced it is his first word! We were talking about it yesterday and he is just so special. He is such a happy content little baby. Always ready with a big smile for you when you talk to him. Maybe it is just because he is our last baby I don't know, he brings us so much joy! It has been quite the month for us with everyone being sick! The last few weeks are a bit of a blur and it is hard to believe that it has been going on that long. Kobie and I joined the sickfest a week ago to add even more fun than I was having with Bailey and Riley being sick. Bailey had turned a bit of a corner by last weekend in that she was at least sleeping through the night with little or not even waking up coughing/puking. But as soon as that happened then Kobie and I got sick and it has been one sleepless night after another. I feel like I have a newborn again. He is waking up coughing or crying every two hours and wanting to nurse that often too at night and even during the day. We did end up taking him to the Naturopath on Monday to see what we could do for him to help him. We are giving him some pulsitilla via dropper twice a day along with steam baths with euculyptus(sp?) to help him out. It was a really long week with little sleep for us both. His new name is Kobie Bear Don't Sleeps. Last night was the first decent night we have had with him going one 4 hour stretch with my coaxing and another 4 hour stretch on his own. He has also been napping much better today, going to sleep on his own instead of me rocking or nursing him to sleep or not sleeping at all. So some of his growth updates is he weighed 15 1/2 lbs at the Dr. office on Monday, he has been laughing spontanously this last month, blowing some really great raspberries, he had is first taste of food which was a banana on 4/23 and he has been enjoying spending more time in the exersaucer and johnny jumper. He is also now scooting himself on his back. I can no longer leave him on the bed or changing table and expect him to stay in the same place. He can go quite far! Bailey seems to be having a better week this last week. The coughing fits still happen a few times a day, but she doesn't always throw up. She has been better about getting to the bathroom or bucket if she needs to also. Sleeping through the night has been a big help to her though, she has had way more energy this week and her appetite has picked up too. Riley has been doing pretty good with it all, just a rattley cough that gets him going every once in awhile. Nothing seems to slow him down! He has been really enjoying himself these last few weeks cause it has been unlimited movies and games to keep mommy sain on little sleep and dealing with sick kiddos and herself. I haven't been feeling very good, but the lack of sleep doesn't help either. I guess I haven't been taking very good care of myself, because when we weighed Kobie at the Dr. office on Monday I was down about 7-8 lbs from where I had been at. Now the challenge begins of trying to gain it back, which for me is hard. I think if I can get some good sleep at night I will start feeling way better and during the day I just need to remember to take care of me too. I feel like we have finally turned a corner with this nasty bug that has hung on this last month. I hope I am right!!! 4/16/12 - Was looking all over for Bailey this day, calling her name, couldn't find her and was about to get angry that she wasn't answering. This is where I found her! 4/23/12 Poor sick baby! First food, banana! 4/25/12 - Got some cute shots of Riley and Bailey while taking Gideon's 2 year old pics "Daddy just slept with me every day, he slept with me for 5 hours......he slept with me for 5 minutes" This on is almost daily and he changes how he words it, "Mom, everyday I play games, every night every day, I play games!" "Every morning I wake up and I play games!" He had been talking about his cousins in Denver lately, "You remember Jack and Connor, I saw them last night. They are my friends!" Naptime, "Mom, I stay awake 3-4 hours." I am sure there are way more! He is a funny little guy. Our poor little Bailey Grace has been sick with a cold of some sort for the last month. In the last two weeks it has intensefied with more coughing and mucus. This last week she has had such a hard time with coughing fits, most of the time resulting in throwing up. We took her into the Naturopath Dr. on Wednesday with concerns it was something more serious like Whooping cough. She assured us that she didn't think that was the case. Bailey has a super sensetive gag reflex which makes any sort of throat tickle a big problem for her. So we are on some homeopathic remedies for the moment in hopes that we can kick this. The last 4 nights have been incredibly difficult with her waking coughing and gasping for air a few times. Needless to say between her and breastfeeding Kobie, I am not sleeping much. It has been difficult to get Bailey to take the medicine she needs to get better, cause she will cough and then spit it back up. Today was better than yesterday though so I have hope. So far Kobie has stayed healthy, but Riley is now showing signs today of getting sick with a slight mucusy cough and now a fever of 102. I am praying the Kobie's immune system can beat any germs he might catch from his siblings. Today marks a mile stone for him, he has slept all of his naps so far on his back. It happened by accident this morning when he woke up at 6 to eat and was wide awake until a little after 7am when he put himself to sleep in our bed while I was dosing. This will hopefully make night time "tough love" easier if he can put himself to sleep on his back. Even through my tired days of late it is hard not to smile back at his huge grin he is always ready to give you. He is loving blowing the raspberries too lately. He has been spending more time in the exersaucer and I think he is starting to like it. Here are some pics from Easter and you can see more on my Facebook as always! We had a fun Easter Sunday out here on The Ridge with all the Charettes, Rileys, Krofts, Bickams, Vopels, the Bob Johnsons, Grandma J and our good friend Charlotte. It is always a fun filled day with lots of good food and great fellowship. Until next time! This is as good as it gets for a family photo these days! 4-8-12 The kiddos Kobie and Tristyn My Little Bear turned 5 months old today! I know I've said this many times before, but where does the time go? I weighed him today and he is 14lbs 14 oz. We've decided that out of all our babies, he is the happiest and gives away the most smiles. Any time you talk to him he has the biggest smiles for you. It is hard to walk away from him when he is giving you the big smiles, stops most people in their tracks. He is still only rolling from front to back, which has made naptime and bedtime more challenging. We started bundeling him again to help him sleep better. It works some of the time. This week I have started to let him cry it out during the night in attempt to get a good 6-7 hour stretch out of him. It has been working out pretty good. He still wakes up after 3 hours, the first night crying for 30 minutes and the last couple of nights just waking and crying for less than 5 minutes. So now if I can get him to stop waking up in between, it will be fantastic to get a good stretch of sleep. He is working on sitting up a little bit, but most of the time ends up bent in half. Riley and Bailey have been enjoying the warmer days playing out back on the patio. I have to keep a close eye on them because then tend to wander and we have lots of space for them to wander to. Riley just finished up his first wrestling season and is now on to Judo with daddy out in the Dojo. He is still a little young for it to keep his attention, but Rob said he is a quick learner. It has been an interesting week with Bailey so far and no B. We had her throw her last B aka binki away on Saturday morning after I discovered she had bit a hole in it. She still asks for it everytime it is time for nap or bed, but doesn't put up too much of a fuss. The hard part has been getting her to stay in bed this week. She keeps getting up out of bed multiple times with little care to the consequence. Not sure what to do about this. As for Rob and I we are gearing up for the projects that spring time brings like our garden and for Rob the list of other things to do around here always seems long. He has been able to get some motorcycle riding in too, dirt bike for those of you wondering. He is looking forward to some fun with that this summer. Well, the little one is calling my name or I should say crying my name! I will hopefully get back here to load up some pics later tonight. First time in exersaucer and enjoying the sunshine- 4/3/12 4/4/12 Well, today is the day! Bailey had been down to one B aka binki for the last month or so. She has been biting them and then they get yucky on the inside, so I have been throwing them away. This morning as we were taking the B from her after she woke up I noticed that it had a hole in it an was yucky with moisture on the inside. So I told Bailey that this was it, no more B's. She needed to go throw it away and there would be no more B's. She wasn't so sure this was a good idea and took a little convincing. Finally she grabbed her B and said this is yucky and threw it in the garbage. Then I told her since she was so good and got rid of her B she could have a new teddy bear. She was really excited about that. I am not sure she understands that there really are no more B's and the next couple of days could be ruff. We will see if this mama lasts her out! Was going to upload pics but it won't let me. Check out my facebook! Kobie turned 4 months on Sunday the 4th! What a big boy he is getting to be. He now weights 14 lbs 1 oz. He rolled over for the first time last night twice when I was putting him to bed, from front to back. The expression on his face was priceless, because it was like he was saying, "Whoo, what just happened!" He has been pretty close to it for awhile with the one arm just standing in his way. Kobie is now grabbing for things and getting what he wants most of the time. His toes are his new favorite if he can catch them, they move fast! He has caught his sister's cold again which isn't making for very good nights for me. Last night he was up every hour having troubles breathing through his nose while sucking on the binki. Both Bailey and him were getting better last week and then Bailey started up again on Thursday with Kobie joining her on Sunday. So far Riley hasn't caught it yet. Kobie has been wanting a little more of my attention these last couple of days because of it and nursing more often too due to the stuffy nose. This mama is tired!!! He still is a happy little guy in spite of being sick, wanting to talk and smile at you. We enjoyed a couple of warm days this last week and were able to take the kids outside to the park. They loved it! Kobie maybe not as much because the wind takes his breath away. It makes me look forward to spring time! This is the last week of wrestling for Rob and then it sounds like they will start practicing up here at the Dojo after that. I am ready to get back to Zumba after being away for over a year now due to pregnancy, having baby and wrestling. I can't wait to get my grove on again and firm up my little chub-a-baby-flub! It is hard to believe that we are already into March. It is time to start planning our garden as we are going to attempt our own starters this year. We will see how that goes! 3/4/12 - Kobie is 4 months old! We enjoyed being outside down at the Lion's Den at Lockwood schools Me and Bailey Me and Riley Well, it has been quite the week! Bailey has now been sick for almost three weeks with runny nose, etc. Riley started in with the snots, cough and sore throat almost two weeks ago. Bailey then followed with the cough and by last weekend Kobie joined them too. Then I couldn't miss out on the fun and joined them a week ago with the head cold. So it has been a week of lots of snots, sneezes, coughs and little sleep! This is Kobie's first cold and he has been a pretty good baby through it this last week. He even lets me suck out his snot for him! Being sick has made him even more of a snuggle bug. He likes to be held versus being put down on his own and it is hard for this mommy to resist him while he is sick. I think I am creating a spoiled little baby that I will have to do some tough love on once he is over this cold. I have actually been letting him cry it out a little when I put him down for a nap. He has been throwing a little fit every time and I have to let him cry for 5 mins or so before he will settle down to sleep. He is quite strong and since he sleeps on his tummy, he is getting close to turning himself over from front to back while he is crying. He can sure get himself worked up! I weighed Kobie yesterday at 15 weeks 4 days and he was 13 lbs 14 oz. That is another pound in the last few weeks. He has finally surpassed his cousin Tristyn and is leaving her in the dust. He loves to be talked to and will coo right back at you with big smiles every time. He has also really been chewing on his fingers which I am hoping isn't a sign of teeth yet even though I do see two little spots on his gums. I can't feel anything yet though. The other two kiddos are doing great though being sick. Riley has been sleeping well, but Bailey has started getting up early again, 6-7 am and even sometimes very early like 3 or 4am. Mommy really hasn't been getting much sleep between her and Kobie eating every 3-4 hours at night. Since she can now crawl out of her crib well, she has been getting up for a bottle and then wants to get in bed with us. This wouldn't be so bad if she would just go back to sleep, instead she wants to chat and play. I have been looking at her lately and cannot believe how big she looks to me. She has such a sweet and funny little personality. She is always so polite with a please and an excited, "Thank you mama!" I love my Bailey Grace! Riley has been having fun with wrestling practice with daddy. Rob was considering putting him the next couple of tournaments to wrestle, but he is now thinking that he might just be too young. Since I was really not wanting to jump into being a wrestling mom this year and having to go to tournaments, this wouldn't make me too sad to wait till next year. I was asking Riley this morning how wrestling practice was last night and he broke this mama's heart when he said, "I wasn't champion", "They don't like me.", "Alex likes me though". Who knew that he even would know to feel that yet? Rob and I were talking about it and since all of his friends are cousins right now and he is used to getting lots of hugs and attention from them, he might feel that from other kids. He was trying to tell me last week that some of the wrestling kids were his cousins and I was trying to explain that they are his friends. Still sad for this mama to hear! So there is a quick update on our sick days this last week. We have just been sticking close to home and hopefully will be feeling better soon! 2/14/12- Riley's wrestling pic 2/17/12- Kobie 2/19/12- Trying out the new bloggie camera My "little bear" is getting bigger! Kobie turned 3 months old on the 4th. Time just seems to go even faster with three kids. He now weighs 12 lbs 15 oz and is about 22.75 in. long. He is tracking right along side his cousin Tristyn it seems in most everything they do. He has been a bit more of a fussy baby the last few weeks, I call him "Mr. Fussy-pants". He loves to be held and is my little snuggle bug. It is so hard not to just do that all day with him. Kobie is still not sleeping consistent at night. Most nights are every 3-4 hours waking to eat, but every 3-4 days he will give me a longer 5-6 hour stretch. His awake time is only about 1-1.5 hours at a time before he is yawning and ready to go back down. Kobie has found his hands and loves to suck on them when he can get them to go to his mouth. He gave us his first laughs on January 23rd. He is a goosey little guy and I was tickling him and he laughed. On Sunday afternoon, February 5th, Nana got him to laugh spontaneously while she was talking to him. Kobie is so much fun to talk to because he always seems to have a big smile for you and something to say. It takes his whole body to say it too! Bailey and Riley both like talking to him and Riley especially likes to sing songs to him that he has made up. They are sooooo cute! Kobie is tracking people pretty good with his eyes too and from farther away than I thought he could see. This time when they are little seems to fly right by so we are just trying to enjoy every minute of it! I also weighed Riley and Bailey on the 4th. Riley is now 35.5 lbs, which is now a 3.5 lbs weight gain since his surgery. Amazing! Bailey has also gained a couple of pounds and is now 30.5 lbs. Riley is loving going to wrestling with daddy Tuesday-Thursday evenings. I got a chance to see him at a practice when I went to take the wrestling club pictures last week. He is so cute! He will have his first wrestling match tonight during practice. We'll see how he does! We had a busy holiday season this year! We started off celebrating the Riley Christmas on the 18th at my sister Casidee's house. The kids got fun stuff from Nana and Papa. Bailey got Toy Story DVD's and a new "computer". Riley got some more Rescue Heros and a new Nerf Gun. We also celebrated the Charette Christmas early on the 23rd since we were heading out of town. We had the traditional Klube dinner with lots of presents to open afterwards. Riley got some cool binoculars from Grammy and Grandpa while Bailey got some slippers and a Veggie DVD. We got up early on Christmas Eve to get ready to head east to Richey for the Johnson Christmas. We left town around 9:30am. The kids all did great on the trip. We made stop in Miles City where we met up with Don and Casidee. It was such a fun weekend of lots of food, family and games. I think there was a little under 70 people at my Aunt Betty and Uncle Marty's house on Christmas Day. It was decided this year would be the last Johnson Christmas. It is very sad for me since this is how I have spent every other Christmas since I was born. We are going to now do a summer reunion ever other year instead. We stayed until Tuesday morning and then headed home. Rob took off the week between Christmas and New Years, so it was fun to have him home for a change. He built me a TV and stereo cabinet during his time off. I was able to get it painted and we got it in by New Years Day. It is so much fun to have more storage space. This last weekend he also added a coat/shoe locker to go next to it. I love it! New Years Eve was spent with the usual crowd of the Charettes, Oliszczaks, Corcorans and also Charlotte. The kids had so much fun running around out in the Dojo and it was a fun time of fellowship with family and close friends. What a great way to ring in the New Year! So that is a quick update of our busy Holiday Season! Riley Christmas 12/18/11 The Riley Ladies Charette Christmas - 12/23/11 Johnson Christmas - 12/25/11 New Years Eve - 12/31/11 All the kids!
